lldd Posted September 28, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know it's a long shot, but decided to ask anyway. Does anyone know where one might still find a new, black chrome M10-R. I understand it's been discontinued for some time, but perhaps there is a last one sitting on a dealer's shelf somewhere. I've searched the web to no avail.
Advertisement Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Hi lldd, Take a look here BC M10-R. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
egrossman Posted September 28, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 28, 2024 Reach out to Tim Lei, who is a very active gray market dealer (based in Ontario Canada) for this and other hard to source Leica products. His prices are very competitive and he has relationships with Leica dealers in Asia and Europe to source what you want. He also accepts trade-ins for a 7% margin (significantly lower than the 20-30% most dealers charge). I've dealt with him personally and many others have as well on the Leica Discord and Fred Miranda B&S forum (he uses the handle dddddleiting). His contact details are here: https://www.facebook.com/people/Tims-Photo-Ltd/100055149081988/ Erik 2

There was an issue with a vintage lens I purchased from him and he immediately offered to get it CLA'ed or I could return it for a full refund. I couldn't ask for better service on buying a vintage lens. Edited September 29, 2024 by Crem

May I ask how are his prices so low and what exactly does (Leica) gray market mean? Best, Mark

Buy from Europe or HK without VAT and declared lower value when going through customs. Whatever you want to call it, it’s a textbook smuggling. Not that I despise this kind of dealing but you want to know the truth , that’s what it is. I do that too, go to Europe , buy without VAT and come back without tariff 1

First of all, let me be clear, I don't resell my Leica's for profit, I only use them for my personal pleasure and sell it later on as second-hand when I am bored of them. Technically you are right in the ballpark about VAT and Global Blue. But I don't do that. I don't let the infamous global blue handle my tax-free purchase. I handle it myself directly with the dealers. I know you would say it's not possible, but I am telling it's possible. However, you need certain relationship with the dealers in Europe to get around logistics. That's where the smuggler Tim Lei came into the picture. In fact, I can do the same business as Tim Lei does. You pay me 30% deposit, wait for about 1 week, I give you any Leica products brand new sealed in box for about 15-20% discount to the price that any US retailer is selling. However I am not in the mood to build a reputation that customers would trust me blindly with 30% deposit, but Tim does that.
