psquared Posted December 28, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2007 I guess it was confused by the sign, too. Left or right? Good catch, Al. Peter

albert Posted December 28, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted December 28, 2007 Peter & Gunnar, Thanks gentlemen.....Just learned from my old collegues at a local nature center that this is a Short-Eared Owl.......&.......very rare to capture an image with the tiny tufts so prominently displayed.......they tell me that it will be published in a local bird rag. albert Posted January 2, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted January 2, 2008 Azzo, Martin, Alberto, Thank you men. It is the first time I have seen an owl perched on a road-sign in sixty-one years of living near The Great Plains. The D-Lux 3 was on the passenger seat and the little owl was fearless. samwells Posted January 2, 2008 Share #9 Posted January 2, 2008 Al: That's a great catch, and combination of the graphic (sign) and wildlife. (Looks like someone's been taking potshots at the sign, too.) cheers: Sam
albert Posted January 2, 2008 Author Share #10 Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks Much Sam, The "good old boys" just can't help themselves when armed near defenseless signs. Could be city-boys too, out for some manly behavior. I seem to recall this type of behavior. Leicas are kinder. Al
