jtharvie Posted December 27, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted December 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well my LC1 is providing me with some lovely pink photos! I really like this camera and I've invested in a Close up Lens, ND Lens, Polarizing Filter, extra battery. Does anyone have any experience with a replaced sensor? So far I think it is covered by warranty here in Canada. What has been your experience after sensor replacement? Cheers, jth
Advertisement Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Hi jtharvie, Take a look here Is my LC1 worth fixing?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Riley Posted December 28, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted December 28, 2007 cant comment on the sensor replacements as my LC1 hasnt gone down yet. But the replacement of the sensor is still a warranty deal, thats not a position they will hold forever me thinks. Is it worth it? .....sure. photogdave Posted December 28, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted December 28, 2007 It's a free sensor replacement. Why wouldn't you? They also do a factory firmware update to v1.0A. Has anyone who has had this done noticed any improvements or changes with this new firmware?
dhsimmonds Posted December 28, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted December 28, 2007 jth - the answer is a resounding YES, get it done. It's free and mine had a complete check up, autofocus checked etc. etc., all for free and I have gone on to produce many images with it since getting it back last June. d_lague Posted January 4, 2008 Share #10 Â Posted January 4, 2008 It is well worth it. I had mine done here in the USA and paid full price for the sensor and rebuild. $450 or so as I remember. I thought it was well worth it as I love this camera. I bought an L1, and I still love the LC1. it takes awesome photos period. It might be slow, It might be an ASA 100 camera, but it does a great job........... Â As has been mentioned here so many times this is a classic camera that makes great photos. beomkoh Posted January 10, 2008 Share #11 Â Posted January 10, 2008 I think it is. My CCD died several months ago. I sent it for repair in Australia as I am working in Australia. The quote was around A$600. I found out it was recalled in South Korea - my father had bought it in Korea. So I sent it to Korea and It's now back and is now working just fine. It takes good photos although as somebody indicated, it is ISO100 camera. I like mine and will keep for some more years at least! I don't have any idea about the firmware but I think I am getting better photos because I now have mastered the menu and its settings. It's a well worth camera!
