The 25mm Summilux works great with my Digilux 3. I have the body's AF assist light enabled. It is odd the E3 does not have that feature.

It has that feature, but it is the built in flash sending strobes to help the AF focus :-((

Maybe I am missing something, but so far I did not find any other AF light.

One of the main reasons to go for the E-3 was to have better support for avaiable light through its more advanced low noise at higher ISO - which works great. But not being able to use AF under these conditions is really odd.

Michael:

im considering this lens as well, i was wondering how is this lens working on your D3 ?, is it sharp ? does it focus fast ? im looking photgrapgh gynmanstics ...... low light / action shots

any advice if it would work ?

thanks

If its low light and you want to use AF it might be worse than the 1,4/25, because this allows more light to fall on the AF sensors as the 50-200.

Despite of that I did not have any issues when focusing the same subjects under the same light with my 12-60, even without AF assist it was sharp.

So maybe it is a problem of the Leica lens (made by Pana). Maybe only my lens has this issue.

Richard: sorry I have ordered the 50-200mm SWD lens as well as the 50mm F2 macro lens, the EC20 telconverter and EX25 extensonion tube. The 50-200mm lens will only arrive at the shop around the 15-20th Jan and then it will have to make its way across the Atlantic (2-3 weeks including customs) to get to NZ. It will be my pleasure to post of few test pics - I would estimate this to be around the end of Feb/beginning of Mar.
