LocalHero1953 Posted September 16, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a main activity stream for new posts in selected topics, which works well. I want another activity stream for specific threads that I have chosen to follow e.g. I Like Film, but I can't work out how to create a stream that shows just my selected threads without the threads that I started or the posts I made. Has anyone done this? I tried the default Content I Follow, but that has the problem I refer to above. I tried creating a new activity stream choosing the 'Content Items I Follow' option, but that makes no difference. I don't wish to receive email or other notifications of posts in followed threads - I just want to display an activity stream that allows me to catch up with just selected threads. andybarton Posted September 16, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2024 Please post something in the "I like film" thread. Anyone can do this - just text and I will tidy up later. I may have an answer for you.
andybarton Posted September 16, 2024 Share #3 Posted September 16, 2024 OK, I think this might work. I have added a tag to the "I Like film" thread, that is "I Like Film". You can set up a new Activity Stream to show just threads with specific tags. Provided the thread is tagged, and you might be able to do this yourself (bearing in mind every member can see the tag) then the activity Stream will show only the unread posts in that tagged thread. This relies on threads having a unique tag, but it might work. 1
LocalHero1953 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Share #4 Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) I have created an activity stream with that tag (as you tagged it, with upper & lower case 'I like film'), but nothing showed up. The last post in I Like Film was yesterday, so I added a new post myself: still nothing showing. Read Status is set to 'Everything' not 'Content I haven't read yet'. Time period to '365 days'. Maybe I should give it a bit of time and wait for someone (not me) to post something new there. It's not a big deal, but frustrating I can't make it work! andybarton Posted September 16, 2024 Share #5 Posted September 16, 2024 If you add a post yourself, you have by default read the last and newest entry. I’ll post one and you can see if it works.
LocalHero1953 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Share #6 Posted September 16, 2024 I realised I'd made a mistake: the tag is 'i like film' not 'I like film' as I had typed. And it shows up your post. Thank you, that works - it shows just that post and no others. Obviously it depends on there being a tag. Other similar open threads don't have tags (e.g. 'Black and White Image Thread').
andybarton Posted September 16, 2024 Share #7 Posted September 16, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can you add a tag yourself? I think so, but I can help if you have trouble.
LocalHero1953 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Share #8 Posted September 16, 2024 I can't see where to do that on an existing thread
andybarton Posted September 16, 2024 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2024 Go to the first post in the thread anf have a look at the Title. There may be a "Add tag" cell below the title. If not, PM me a list of the threads that you want tags for and I'll add them for you. Just so that we are clear, I am NOT going to tag every thread here... LocalHero1953 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Share #10 Posted September 16, 2024 No, that's not visible to me. Mods only?
LocalHero1953 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Share #11 Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) If I create a new thread I can see that Add Tag button. Maybe it disappears, along with the ability to edit titles and content, after about an hour. Edited September 16, 2024 by LocalHero1953

I'll look around and make a (short) list rather than send them individually. No, it's still not visible at the first post.
