gtownby Posted December 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm an M8 user who misses the grain of film and authentic sloppy borders. If I scan film using a dedicated scanner such as what Nikon offers, will I be able to get sloppy borders? How about on an Epson V700 flatbed?
Advertisement Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Hi gtownby, Take a look here Sloppy Borders on Scanner?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ndjambrose Posted December 22, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 22, 2007 Most scanners have an auto and a manual mode. The auto mode will usually trim borders, but if you switch to manual mode you can define the outline of the scan area for yourself. This means you can include as much or as little of the surrounding border as you wish. And you can definitely do this with an Epson flatbed as I use one myself. But an alternative is to add the borders in yourself using Photoshop. A quick google will throw up lots of options.

Nitrox Posted December 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 23, 2007 Or try a software like "Showit Borders". Regards Peter
tgray Posted December 27, 2007 Share #5 Posted December 27, 2007 I think if you want something like a filed-out negative carrier to show the sprocket holes, etc., you will need a scanner capable of scanning MF. So... Nikon 9000/8000, or a Epson V700/V750. My Nikon V does not allow me to get out to the sprocket holes.
