uwe zankl Posted December 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all I am currently working on putting together a WWII US war correspondant impression. My goal is to be able to take pictures and footage using original 30ties technics and material. I already have the 16mm film camera and I am now seaching for a usable Leica III (a). Now my question...does anybody know how long Leicas were sold in the US after WWII started in 1939. I know that Kodak Color film was still imported to Germany in the spring of 41 but I am not sure about German exports. Does anxbody know if export lists, maybe even with serial number blocks, exist? thanks Uwe
Advertisement Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Hi uwe zankl, Take a look here Leica pre war exports to the US. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
john_newell Posted December 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2007 You're going to want a better documented response, but I was looking at a similar question some years ago and came to the conclusion that a III, IIIa or IIIb would be OK but a IIIc would have been fairly uncommon, even though based on pure production dates I would have thought it was a common camera in the US.
