SL2 w/ Sigma MC-21 not focusing with Canon 35L V1

 I have a new to me SL2 and want to use my old Canon favorite lens of all time the original 35L 1.4. 
I bought the Viltrox adapter first and the combination wouldn’t work. 
Today I got in the Sigma MC-21 and tested it first with my Canon 40mm pancake and it works perfectly. 
Next I put on my 35L. It is perfect when manually focusing as it tenders beautifully. When trying to use it in AF mode (AFS) it focuses twice like it is unsure and never gets close to the target. I’ve tried all focus fields and nothing improves it.

Sigma MC-21 is officially for Canon mount sigma lenses, some EF work well, others less. I had good luck with a few Canon lenses, AF was always a bit slow. some lenses like old 70-200 turn behind the correct mounting point and the electronic contacts confuse the camera.

I would look to see if there is a firmware update for the adapter!

Remember that SL2 is contrast AF, you would have to point the AF to a contrasting subject.

It works just as well for me with the EFs 1.8/85, 2.0/100, 4/70-200

There are 2 different MC21s - one for Sigma and (formerly) one for Canon-EF
