maxspbr Posted December 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all. I bought a nickel 35mm Elmar and it came with a slip-on hood (very newer, for Summaron-Elmar). It can be used with the 90mm Elmar? Of course I know that the best is to use the regular hood, but these old acessories are hard to find here. Thanks for any comment! Martin
Advertisement Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Hi maxspbr, Take a look here 35mm hood on 90mm?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dlove5 Posted December 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2007 It can't hurt to try. I have used the "wrong" hoods quite a bit, because I didn't have the "right" one. Or I didn't want to risk losing an expensive "right" one. For example, sometimes I use a folding barn-door style hood made for a Summitar that I picked up for a few dollars on my Summarit instead of the proper XOONS hood. If I just want to make the Summarit look good, then I use the XOONS. Using a hood meant for a 35 on a 90 just doesn't give you quite as much protection against flare, but is probably better than no hood.
fuchs Posted December 22, 2007 Share #3 Posted December 22, 2007 Hola Martin, It will fit your 90mm, and it will not vignette the image. I am also sure it will be better to use this hood than no hood, so go on and then report what you find. Cheers, Ed
maxspbr Posted December 28, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted December 28, 2007 David, Eduardo, Thanks for replying. I tryed the hood and there's no vigneting - and "saved" some shots. Thanks a lot! Martin
