Lenses

I like the lumix 50 1.8. And the sigma 85 1.4 dg dn art, but the colors annoy me. Especially the sigma is less pleasing.

Where as when I mount a summilux-m 50 asph - magic happens 🤩

you mean the colors or the look??

try them all on the same body at f8, at infinity, same subject, light conditions and framing and see if there is any difference :)

BOTH is my vote, as I have three L mounts S1, SL, and TL2 - and on the same vintage lens, WB set and color corrected (Xbrite) they should look identical - they do NOT.  I can shoot the most stable L mount lens (lumix 50/1.8, as I've had three - they were exactly identical and sterile) - yet when I pull them into Lightroom and adjust for the calibration - they do NOT look the same.  As for Leica "look" - I think every MFD has a few cams in the back pocket that had something special.  Fuji (way back) with the F30 (tiny lil sensor shot in the dark) and I think the X-T2 was special, Sony and the ole R1 or RX1, the 5D, and so on...    However, I've landed in the L mount realm because I think there is some inter-breeding and because I LOVE what comes out of the TL2 and the SL with vintage lenses, and the S1 with native glass period.  In fact I'll offer this - I kept the SL over the SL2s for two reasons...   1 is the handling on the SL - and a bit of the EVF was just cleaner.  2 is the output - I feel I liked the pictures I was able to take out of the SL vs the SL2s (OH and being able to tear up the contract to sell a kidney which afforded me the purchase, albeit short term)...  Everyone asks me what my next it - and to date - the high end Sony's (BIG EVF, and FAST focus) might be an option, but the SL3 doesn't interest me (yet).  I love my SL for its rendering, its handling, its EVF (it outperforms my S1 in real world, but losses in spec).  It lacks high ISO (hence the reason I still have the S1), but very little else FOR ME.  As to lenses - SL & Pancolar 1.8 is magical.  The TL2 and the pancolar 2.0 (Star Wars) is pretty special.  Believe it or not - damned MD50/1.7 and the S1 do something special, and I've near 50 fast fifties.  I think every body has its own personality, as do lenses.  I'll put my Mamy 55/1.4 against anything for soap bubbles on the S1 - but it literally doesn't work the same on the Leicas - figure that out...  I'm king of the huge collection of acquired low price vintage - and I'm culling through them all the time.  I find something special in a combo - the lens stays.  Some lenses do exceptional on all three (and they are keepers for sure).  rule of thumb - only two copies of the focal length, sans special ones like the MamySek 1.4.  I shoot each on all three bodies and look -and then compare to the two holding their spot, and the looser is catch & release (unless it has some super power).  I've a topcor which doesn't cut it on the S1 or SL, but absolutely shines on the TL2 - I've absolutely NO IDEA HOW OR WHY, nor do I care - I just know it earned a spot to stick around and only for the TL2.  Take something so vastly confusing and contemplated and I've manage to simplify it as best I could.  Worse - I've an Elmarit 90 (Germany) that is absolutely special on the S1, but run of the mill on the Leicas.  Again - NO IDEA, but works for me.  I'm no pro, just a weekend hack (aka enthusiast) who is still learning - I'm 100x better in post these days, than just two years ago (started 8 yrs ago on an R1).  So I keep it simple - try it - vs the other two I already like - if some fits - keep if it doesn't beat the other two - get rid of it.  I can only add that the DG DN 85/1.4 does render DIFFERENT on all three, take is however you can - the idea you can write some script of a profile to make it look a certain way - good luck with that.  You might accomplish with a specific sensor/camera/lighting/lens combo - but I do not believe you can do an across the board thing, period.  I've shot well over 1000 lenses now - each hold unique characteristics which is partially based on which camera you attach it to.  Ive had two S1 bodies - and I kept the one I like the look out of best (same for the XT2).  Leica may have more control over precision - but I doubt it's the assembly - it's the sensor and each one is unique.  That is what makes this ART.  Good god, I'm getting off this soapbox before I slip and break a lens!!!!
