AdjusterBrett Posted August 22, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted August 22, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the S1 (5.76), SL (4.4 I think), and the odd ball TL2 with the visoflex 020 (2.3 I think). Â So, I think the S1 has the nicest - but when shooting vintage - I find the SL and the TL2 work better - why - I think they allow for further magnification vs the S1. Â First - anyone - anyway to tell why they are working betting - via the specs that are published. Second part - Anyone have S1 & a S5II. Â With manual focus (zoomed in via EVF) - how's the comparison. Â I played with one at Robert's - is felt smoother, but didn't seem to magnify / zoom in any further than the S1 (and I didn't' have the S1 with me). Just fishing for insight. Â Thanx in advance. Advertisement Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Hi AdjusterBrett, Take a look here EVF question.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Biotar Posted August 22, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted August 22, 2024 I use the S1 and SL2s side by side - the SL2s has the better EVF for manual focusing, I usually only use the S1 with AF. The better sensor of the SL2s results in a better image in the EVF - even without magnification. It's not the EVF data that shows the performance, but the sensor output that determines the image - especially with good vintage lenses. AdjusterBrett Posted October 24, 2024 Author Share #3  Posted October 24, 2024 Biotar did you have the SL before the SL2S.  I tried it - and was a bit biased as muscle memory for the SL button layout - and used to 'blindly' zoom in to focus in B/W.  Did NOT find all that much difference between them (may have been an error on my part - but thought I set it up properly).  I did not use peaking - just visual, and noticed the SL2S got darker the closer in I got, while the SL was always bright (and bigger?).  Released the SL2S (huge price difference), as I captured my SL for a bargain, and was paying real money for the SL2S. That said you are the FIRST to explain this - it's the sensor output - and greatly appreciate you releasing me from chasing specs as my eyes seem to be aging faster than my body.  If you have tried others you were impressed with - do let me know.  Have toyed with what the Next purchase will be.  I do not own anything worth a darn in the Autofocus realm - and would like to have something I could occasionally shoot vintage and actually get the shot, while maintaining the ability to zoom/focus manually. THANX>

Fortunately, more MP does not result in better EVF performance. The 24MP is completely sufficient for me, as I never delete images.
