I recently noticed some horizontal lines appearing on the screen of my Leica camera, which were not there before. The lines are visible on the display but do not appear on the photos themselves. Could anyone help me understand what might be causing this issue? Do I need to send my camera to Germany for repairs, or is there a chance this issue might resolve on its own? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Augustnspring,  Your rear screen issue is unlike anything that I have seen on any digital M camera.  If this was my M camera, I would make a copy of your photograph, write up a discription of the issue, enclose both the photograph (with arrow) and description with the camera and take it to your Leica dealer for a vacation to Wetzlar.  The dealer will ship it to Leica for you.  Also provide a copy of your sales invoice to proof of ownership and warranty period.  Based on my experience, one of two things may happen, a. they will replace the rear screen and maybe the mother board or b. replace your camera.  Just my many years of Leica experience and advice for you.  The camera should not do this, firmware or whatever reason.  Your photograph is a must send in along with the issue discription.  r/ Mark

Mmm, that arrow points to what to me looks like scratches …

I could be wrong though.

Thank you so much for the very informative advice on how to deal with my situation. my leica dealer said I should wait for a few weeks to see if it goes away. He also suggested that I take it to a local specialist to have a look to decide how complex issue this is. if the previous two don’t work out, he would suggest me to send the leica to him and be shipped back to Germany, which will take quite some time which I don’t prefer.

I think I shall wait a while to see if this goes away. So far it has not gotten bigger and it has no effect on my final image.

Again, thanks a lot.
