Hi, 

the picture attached is a part of a series I shot during my last holiday. All of the pictures with the moon show a strange flare that takes different orientations. They were shot with the modern APO-Summicron-M 35mm f2 and I had no filter whatsoever attached.

The only explanation I have is some kind of atmospheric diffraction

What do you think?

The photograph can indicate a weather event that includes layers of steam and moisture. Which in turn created the impressions of the flare. I wouldn't be excited about it. What's more, the resulting result looks cinematic and matter-of-fact.
