7enderbender Posted July 26, 2024 Share #1  Posted July 26, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just ordered a used 11677 28mm Elmarit that comes with everything but the lens cover(s). So naturally im hunting down those parts while waiting for the lens to arrive. When looking at the Leica website one of the stores seems to have a third party (?) metal (?) cap made by Otect. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this vs the oem? Also, is it possible to use a 39mm lens cap with the hood on on this model? Do filters go over or under the hood and is there easy access?
Advertisement Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Hi 7enderbender, Take a look here Lens hood cover options for 28mm Elmarit. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IMAGEPOWER Posted July 29, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) Hi, I actually use OTECT caps on my Elmarit-M 28, Summilux-M 35 and SEM 21, as they don't come off that easily like the original covers. They're made of metal and fit perfectly in the sunshade. A 39mm lens cap can be used on the Elmarit only if you use it without the sunshade. Additionally you then should have the protection ring for the filter thread which is delivered with all Elmarit-M 28 from factory. Filters go under the hood. I simply put a 39mm filter on it and use a 39mm pinch lens cap when in my camera bag.
