tegel Posted July 24, 2024 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) My local shop has a Q2 for sale. It looks to be in excellent condition. I took a few test photos in the store and I’m definitely intrigued. I’m a Nikon shooter and this would be my first Leica. My plan is for it to be a minimalist travel camera. Are there any known issues I should look out for? Thanks, Tom
Advertisement Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Hi tegel, Take a look here Q2 - What to look out for?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Le Chef Posted July 24, 2024 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2024 Check the other thread about what to look for in a used Q. There are a couple of valuable things you can do. In addition ask the the store to provide you with 12 months worth of warranty.
tegel Posted July 25, 2024 Author Share #3 Posted July 25, 2024 Thanks. I found the thread. Very useful. All the controls seemed smooth. I did not to a sensor spot test, but will do that next time. They are holding it for me. Here is what they have on their website: "Excellent condition. This camera has been tested and is fully functional. No scratches or damage to the lens. Minor cosmetic wear to a few places on the body, but no major dings, dents, or scratches. There is a Leica screen protector over the rear LCD panel. Clean image sensor." It comes with the box and all the original accessories plus a thumb grip. All their used cameras have a 60 day warranty. I also did not check the shutter count, but given the condition, I assume it's low. At $3900, it seems to be priced well for its condition. It is a very reputable shop and they have been around since 2011. One of the first things I purchased from them was a Nikon D500 in 2016. At the time it was impossible to find anywhere on-line. I stopped by their store and they had several in stock. They told me that they could easily sell them on-line, but always like to have some available for in-store customers. I've been a customer ever since! I attached a few images from their website. Any other thoughts? Thanks, Tom Welcome, dear visitor! Le Chef Posted July 25, 2024 Share #4 Posted July 25, 2024 If you’re comfortable with it, I would buy it. I’m sure you could get cheaper on Fleebay but the 60 day warranty and a local dealer you have done business with before would sway me to buy.
tegel Posted July 27, 2024 Author Share #5 Posted July 27, 2024 It was a close call, but I decided to pass on the Q2 and stick with my Nikon Zf as my travel camera. While not as compact as the Q, it's not overly large and is quite capable. I learned a lot about the Q2 in the process and it's certainly an impressive piece of gear, but I just couldn't justify the investment.
