BernardC Posted July 12, 2024 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) This might be the cheapest AF lens for L Mount yet: https://meikeglobal.com/en-ca/products/50mm-f1-8-auto-focus-lens-for-portrait-photography?variant=45396236108004 Specs: 50/1.8, 11 elements, including 1 ED lens, 1 high refraction lens. 63cm close focus (which isn't great), priced under US $200. Has anyone here tried any Meike lens? Their cine lenses get decent reviews, taking into consideration the very low prices, but I know nothing of their still lenses. Advertisement Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Hi BernardC, Take a look here New Meike 50mm AF Lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stuart Richardson Posted July 15, 2024 Share #2 Posted July 15, 2024 The MTF looks pretty good. Not as much contrast as the Leicas etc, but it looks pretty even, which is good. My question would be build quality and whether the samples can deliver on the provided MTF. But at a 170 dollars (pretty sure that is similar or less than a lens hood for the APO Summicrons), hard to argue with if you just want a cheap 50mm. I just doubt you will see too many of these on Leicas...not the right market segment. Maybe on the Panasonics? But still, I would probably just get one of the cheap and good 50mm Panasonic lenses.
Simone_DF Posted July 15, 2024 Share #3 Posted July 15, 2024 I didn’t know Meike was producing L mount lenses. Not a lens I’d buy due to the 63cm mfd, but glad it exists for those on a budget that want to enter into the L mount.
