smokysun Posted December 8, 2007 Share #1  Posted December 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) after all the talk, i decided to pull out my d2 and check it (haven't used it this year) just to make sure. and sure enough, purple streaks, deformed images. sent it off  it was fine when last used, so the theory of moisture gradually seeping into the sensor seems a good surmise. if you've had one tucked away, i recommend checking it now. smokysun Posted December 8, 2007 Author Share #3  Posted December 8, 2007 thanks for the reference. i'm interested in the history and personalities as much as the pictures.  have just read this twice: Amazon.com: Image Makers, Image Takers: Books: Anne-Celine Jaeger  this just arrived in the mail: Amazon.com: Conversations With Contemporary Photographers: Books: Joan Fontcuberta,Graciela Iturbide,Max Pam,Duane Michals,Miguel Rio Branco,Philip-Lorca Dicorcia,Alex Webb,Bernard Plossu,Javier Vallhonrat  of course, they all say pretty much the same thing: find a 'subject' that fascinates and get into it, acquiring just as much technique as you need for the project. a note: interesting that salgado took all the monumental pics he's known for with leicas!  a great example (i'm about to watch it again): Olive Films >> Incredible selection of rare, out-of-print and foreign films Manfactured Landscapes (DVD) [Z1095] (though it's rather terrifying, which was the point). smokysun Posted December 8, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted December 8, 2007 ps. if the burtynsky film doesn't seem relevant to this forum, you'll see where the dead leica sensors probably end up in china. and it's not particularly edifying.
