But that does not necessarily mean that the lens actually comes from that year; it could possibly have been manufactured the following year. If there is a silver shimmer under the black paint in rubbed areas, it is probably aluminum. Where there is a dark golden shimmer, it is brass. Here we see both. No idea what that means exactly. Brass cannot (or could not, back then) be black-anodized, so it is always chrome-plated or painted black. Aluminum is usually black-anodized but can also be painted. So is this lens partly painted (e. g. the ring for the distance scale) and partly anodized? Or completely painted? Or something else? I don't know...
