D Carter Posted December 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been trying out my new MP with a new 35/1.4 ASPH as well as comparing a local lab with Dwayne's Photo in Kansas. The first two and last attachments are part of a test roll of 50asa Ilford that I had processed and scanned at Dwayne's Photo in Kansas. The first frame shows the occasional vingetting scattered seemingly at random throughout this test roll. The second picture was an exposure bracket. I've updated this post because I just scanned the frame with the most vingetting on a Epson 4490 flatbed (last attachment) and see the same vingetting. This should rule out the lab scanner. While I didn't keep notes I suspect the frames with the vingetting were shot wide open (1.4). So, my question is, is this amount of vingetting normal for the 35mm f1.4 wide open? Lastly, the entire roll as well as a test roll of Kodak 160-VC and Fuji Pro 160C seem "soft" and lacking detail compared to the local lab results. The third picture is Tri-X 400 (different day, different light) processed locally and scanned on a similar machine at the same resolution (3089X2048).
