Paillin27 Posted May 31, 2024 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I just got my first Leica recently, M11 Monochrom with 11726 35mm f1.4 ASPH. I found out that the focus aid automatic enlargement function wouldn't active under 0.7m, but if I start the focus ring from above 0.7m to under 0.7m, it would carry the enlargement to under 0.7m. I've checked the manual, it didn't mention any restrictions about activating auto-enlargement function under 0.7m. So is it normal? Or I should return the camera/lens for inspection? I know I can set a function button to manually activate it, but it's just silly since I want it to activate automatically. Thanks everyone for the help. Advertisement Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Hi Paillin27, Take a look here M11M Focus Aid Automatic Enlargement Function under 0.7m?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hmzimelka Posted May 31, 2024 Share #2 Posted May 31, 2024 The focus aid is activated by detecting the cameras rangefinder lever movement. Below 0.7m, the lever doesn't move (no rangefinder coupling) so starting focusing below 0.7m won't activate focus aid enlargement. However, if you're at 0.7m or just a bit further, where the rangefinder lever is moving with lens focus, the camera will detect this and activate focus aid.
