Hi everyone,

I just got my first Leica recently, M11 Monochrom with 11726 35mm f1.4 ASPH.

I found out that the focus aid automatic enlargement function wouldn't active under 0.7m,

but if I start the focus ring from above 0.7m to under 0.7m, it would carry the enlargement to under 0.7m.

I've checked the manual, it didn't mention any restrictions about activating auto-enlargement function under 0.7m.

So is it normal? Or I should return the camera/lens for inspection?

I know I can set a function button to manually activate it, but it's just silly since I want it to activate automatically.

Thanks everyone for the help.

The focus aid is activated by detecting the cameras rangefinder lever movement. Below 0.7m, the lever doesn't move (no rangefinder coupling) so starting focusing below 0.7m won't activate focus aid enlargement. However, if you're  at 0.7m or just a bit further, where  the rangefinder lever is moving with lens focus, the camera will detect this and activate focus aid.
