nckkrl Posted May 28, 2024 Share #1 Posted May 28, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I purchased a REFLX LAB Mini Flash (https://reflxlab.com/products/pre-order-reflx-lab-mini-flash) and was looking for advice on using this type of flash (on a Q2M). I want to shoot high-contrast low-key black-and-white pictures like in the album cover art below. I have never used an external flash before and am unsure where to begin. Perhaps I have to use a larger more powerful flash, but I am not so interested in a large flash. Most shots will be close-distance, so I thought such a mini flash would work. Thanks in advance! Qwertynm Posted May 28, 2024 Share #3 Posted May 28, 2024 this flash does have one flash setting only iirc. so you'll have to dial the exposure by trial and error. not much you can do wrong here. just go out and shoot
Biotar Posted May 28, 2024 Share #4 Posted May 28, 2024 But you can't get the larger shadows on the cover with a camera flash - you have to place the flash much higher here.
nckkrl Posted May 28, 2024 Author Share #5 Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) Thanks @timo01/@Qwertynm/@Biotar for the feedback. I'll start at 1/125 and play around with the aperture. The best advice: Just go out and shoot! Edited May 28, 2024 by nckkrl

Were you able to use it outside during the day as fill? Thanks for the help
