warth man Posted May 8, 2024 Share #1 Posted May 8, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wondering if anyone else has come across an issue with LRC and the creation/saving of xmp files. I allocate my Q2M images to a separate drive on my PC to that of images from my Nikon and Fuji cameras. In both cases I have ticked the necessary "xmp" box in LRC and, while they are produced for the Nikon and Fuji cameras, none are appearing for my Q2M files. On the face of it, it makes no sense, but then I'm no computer bod. I would appreciate any assistance/pointers. I did pose a question to LRC "Help" but nothing back yet. Advertisement Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Hi warth man, Take a look here Lightroom Classic (LRC). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Robert Ardinger Posted May 8, 2024 Share #2 Posted May 8, 2024 The XMP files are added to the DNG file so you would not see a separate sidecar file as you would with a NEF file
warth man Posted May 8, 2024 Author Share #3 Posted May 8, 2024 Wonderful! It's great that you know this. Is there somewhere that this info is readily available because for some weeks now no one had been able to tell me the answer?
lincoln_m Posted May 8, 2024 Share #4 Posted May 8, 2024 https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/lightroom-classic/help/metadata-basics-actions.html it explains that DNG and some other formats have the xmp data stored inside.
warth man Posted May 9, 2024 Author Share #5 Posted May 9, 2024 Thanks for this - I hadn't found it. I'll pass it on too. Your help and that of Robert Hardinger above is much appreciated.
