kuharido Posted April 29, 2024 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was wondering if this is normal? It's a high-pitch whine type noise common with some chargers and electric devices My setup when i heard this was USB C cable connecting camera to Macbook computer (which was also connected to adapter in outlet) I didn't get a chance to experiment with other connections Wondering if this is normal or others have experienced it? Curiously enough the Leica Q manual has a section mentioning that this is normal, but no mention of it in the Q3 manual Just wanted to confirm as i associate this kind of noise with low quality or faulty charging circuits

Le Chef Posted April 29, 2024 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2024 My understanding is that the cable provided by Leica is not a charging cable, but a data transfer cable. You would be better off using an Apple cable and plugging into an Apple (iPad) charger.
sugsug Posted April 30, 2024 Share #3 Posted April 30, 2024 I never tried charging with mac or pc. But a usb-c on powerbank or outlet is silent for me.

Wasn't using that cable but a normal USBC charging cable just plugged into a laptop

Thanks for the input! I tried with a charger and i think it managed better. Curious when you're charging it is the camera turned off?

I don't understand how Leica thought it was a good idea to include a lightning to USB-C cable when it was evident long ago that USB-C will become the wired charging standard across the EU. @kuharido I charge my Q3 with a 60W laptop charger or a powerbank and never had any noise. Maybe try a data cable next time or plug the camera straight into the charging cable without bridging the laptop in between.

It will blink green while charging and stays green when it is fully charged. I think you should always charge using the factory charger or straight from outlet if you are using usb-c. Did you mean a Leica Factory Charger or just an OEM charger as I am not sure I got a charger in the box. Cable is there and will not be used as I have other Anker cables that are pretty good for charging.

Leica cable from the box is only meant for data transfer.
