proforma Posted December 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) While in Paris this week, I hastily put a new roll of film in and after a few frames I noticed the rewind knob was not turning. I then tried to rewind and it had pressure and then it was spinning free. Turns out the knob would not turn to rewind the film. Has anyone had this issue?? Is it costly to fix? Advertisement Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Hi proforma, Take a look here M6ttl broken rewind. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Thomasru Posted December 2, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2007 Hi Greg Guess you have gone as far to open the back ! I had a similar problem once but found that the free movement was when the film broke because it had torn the sprocket holes in the film. All I lost was the film left in the camera and the rewind was fine. Sorry if yours is a broken winder. TomR:)

j. white Posted December 20, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2007 From my chats with techs, this is one of the mechanical weak spots of the M6TTL, the other being the frame counter. Apparently these systems were part of Leicas cost-cutting aspects of the design. For these reasons, one tech has described the TTL as "a problem waiting to happen." That has not stopped me from owning two of them. I am a late-comer to the M and dare I say it, a heretic who thinks the shutter speed dial turns the correct way on this model. -J. proforma Posted December 21, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted December 21, 2007 I sent it in for repair. It looks like $350.00 including the Clean Align Lube. I will put it on Ebay since I had to have a camera. So I bought a 0.58 ttl in Paris. At least I have a souvenir! Greg
