Hi Vadim,

this cable is only to control the camera.
if you like to add more functions to the cable pls write an email to Leica headquarters.
maybe they implement it.
but there was a big discussion about the cable going on. Some people like it the way it’s other would like the cable to also charge.
we need zo communicate what we need or want.

cheers

Really strange. Why does this cord come with the Q3?

I have never used it because I have the equivalent Apple cord that works perfectly.

I can't get any cable to work between my Q3 and FOTOS on my iPhone, including the Leica cable that came with my Q3. Bluetooth/WiFi works fine but it's slow for my purposes. I travel overseas for photo shoots and on an upcoming trip I need to travel light, without a MacBook or iPad. So I want to back up my photos each day or a couple times a day with my iPhone. Although the WiFi is fast for WiFi I would prefer the speed of a cable.

Is there something I'm missing here? I've tried deleting the camera from FOTOS and starting with a fresh connection but when I choose the cable option, it just spins forever but never connects with the cable.

On FOTOS it says "Connect Leica FOTOS cable Use the Leica FOTOS cable to connect the camera" On my Q3 screen is shows "Get Leica FOTOS for iOS or Android and start pairing" along with Leica logo and my serial number and a cancel option. I have the MiFi option selection under USB in the Q3 menu.

Any guidance appreciated.

If I remember this correctly , then you just plug in the cable and then you need to select what mode you want to use the cable for.

When using the **Leica FOTOS App** via **USB cable** with the **Leica Q3**, the following modes are available:

1. **Tethered Shooting**:
   - This mode allows you to shoot photos while the camera is connected to a device via USB, and the images are directly transferred to that device (e.g., a computer or tablet). It's especially useful in studio environments where immediate access to high-quality images is needed.

2. **Remote Control**:
   - The app provides remote control over the camera's settings, such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and white balance. You can trigger the camera without physically touching it, which is ideal for shooting in controlled or delicate environments.

3. **Image Transfer and Management**:
   - You can quickly transfer high-resolution images, including RAW files, from the camera to your device via USB. This mode is useful for handling large files and fast data transfer without relying on wireless connections.

4. **Live View**:
   - The app displays a real-time view of what the camera is seeing. This mode is particularly useful for composing shots or for precise adjustments, such as focusing, while viewing the live feed on a larger device screen.

In addition to the cable connection, the Leica Q3 and Leica FOTOS App also support wireless modes via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for more flexibility if preferred.

To enable **Tethered Shooting** with the **Leica Q3** using the **Leica FOTOS App** via USB cable, you need to select **"USB Mode: Tethered"** in the camera's menu.

Here’s how you can do it:

1. **Connect the camera to your computer** or device using a USB-C cable.
2. **Navigate to the camera's menu** on the Leica Q3.
3. Go to the **"Connectivity"** section.
4. Select **"USB Mode"**.
5. Choose **"Tethered"** mode.

Once this is done, the Leica FOTOS App or compatible software on your computer (such as Adobe Lightroom or Capture One) should recognize the camera for tethered shooting, allowing you to capture images and immediately transfer them to your connected device.

I hope this helps
