spylaw4 Posted December 1, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted December 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone else seen the report in today's FT about the new SD card (2Gb) with a built-in wi-fi chip to allow direct downloading to computer etc.? Â Sounds an interesting development - only available in the US for now.
Advertisement Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Hi spylaw4, Take a look here Built-in wi-fi. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted December 1, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted December 1, 2007 I think there was a thread about that a few weeks ago. Â The metal body of the M8 or DMR might cause problems if it acts as shielding.
biglouis Posted December 1, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted December 1, 2007 I thought it was an interesting development but the transfer speeds are never going to be as good as taking your card, putting it into a reader and 'directly' connecting it to your PC. Given that serious digital cameras are going to create files of several megabytes and a days shooting for me is 100+ pictures this is not going to be a fast solution for bulk transfers. Â And as Steve says, you then have the issue of shielding and the far more difficult issue of the sheer b*gg*ration factor of WiFi (and I speak as an experienced user).
