I own only a 240 and a 246 (so not an M10) however I was and am considering an SL in order to add an EVF for my 24mm and 90mm and now my 50 summilux.

However for these special purposes perhaps an M-EVF would be acceptable (I'm an M user through and through). It's my understanding that the EVF's for the 240 line are pretty subpar, but I would very much consider moving to an M10 series for the better EVF (among other things).

thoughts?

I have been thinking of the SL as a camera for my M lenses. I've tried them on both the SL2 and now the SL3. I don't notice a size or weight difference og Sl2 and SL3 i praktis. But I don't think it works. Not to me. It is WAY too big a camera.
I buy Sony mirrorless for those tasks and let my M handle M lenses. By the way, my M 50mm is quite good on the Sony.

However, I have tried my M lenses on CL and it was a completely different god experience.
But unfortunately Leica has the choice not to continue with CL. It's really a shame. So M lenses on M body.

Pardon my attempting to speak for @newtoleica but what I think he means is How can anyone decide if they like a camera in a few days? (and I can agree with that).

For me if you are not 100% sure then you (the buyer) are anxious because you *can* return it for no loss or hassle of selling - you just have to decide very quickly. And that's not always the 'right' decision.

I owned an M-D (when they were going for $3k) for about 7 days and then returned it because I realized it was still a digital camera. Definitely a rash decision.

In my original post, I clearly state that I'd been shooting the SL2 for over 3 weeks

Ok I see that now - I'm not sure why I'm involved in this anyway, I'll remove myself...it should be between you and @newtoleica. I misunderstood and thought he wasn't sure how you can decide if you love a camera within the typical say 7-14 day return window...

But tbh that's unclear to me as well how you can 'return' a camera after a few weeks. I did enjoy your post and points though.

cheers

M10-P with Visoflex 020 is outstanding. Colors start to look a bit washed out at ISO 1600 and above, though. One can use AI to fix that but then the pictures will probably need to be labeled AAC, at least they will be in one’s mind which could lead to cognitive dissonance. Given the SL3 has IBIS and much butter colors at higher ISO, this will be one of the main differences to the M10-P at higher ISO.

Perhaps that's a discussion you can have with the sellers. Clearly, they have found that this policy works in their favor. Before the SL, the last time I returned anything of consequence was about 3 yrs ago. A Voigtlander lens, which I exchanged for a brand new new Zeiss 25mm ZM. The Zeiss cost me an extra 350 bucks. The policy works.

Cheers,

P.

Perhaps this explanation will help clarify why it is possible to return equipment for up to three weeks after purchase at some stores in some places.

"BECAUSE."

I'm not sure why anyone would think they rate a more detailed explanation than that. 😉

It definitely would be and should be as simple as that, and now I realize we are talking about 'some stores' and not 'typical store policy' (for example KEH, where I often buy gear from, and a zillion other stores which are *usually* between 2 and 14 days). 😁
