Steve Miller Posted April 1, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted April 1, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm looking for either a simple shutter release or more advanced intervalometer (cable or bluetooth for either option) for the Q3. I've read a couple of threads discussing the fact that the threaded shutter release on the Q3 doesn't actually allow the use of threaded shutter release; it's just a way for photographers to use soft release buttons. I also understand that I can use the Fotos app to remotely trigger the shutter, but I need something more dependable where I won't have to worry about losing the connection with my iPhone or that doesn't introduce a lag. The only potential solution I can think of is a cable remote that plugs in to the USB-C port. Does this exist? Is there any other way to trigger the Q3 without using either the body shutter, the self timer, or the app? Thanks, Steve

radialMelt Posted April 4, 2024 Share #2  Posted April 4, 2024 There is an interval shooting option built into the Q3. That's the only thing I can think of that could help you.

This won't help me for this specific situation where I'll want to trigger the shutter remotely at non-regular intervals, but good to know there is an intervalometer! I thought there was one but couldn't find it when I quickly went through the menu (forgot to look under Drive Mode...doh!). I'm still surprised the Q3 doesn't have the capability to use an external shutter remote via the USB-C port. Oh well. Steve

The choice to thread the shutter button but not make it work with a cable release is quite strange.
Steve Miller Posted April 4, 2024 Author Share #5 Â Posted April 4, 2024 Just now, radialMelt said: I agree. No complaints though, the Q3 is still a fantastic camera.
