wolan Posted March 17, 2024 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I have been doing some maths based on a picture I found in internet, which shows the crops of common picture formats, 3:2, 16:9 and 2.66:1 (Cinema scope). The crop with Cinemascope is pretty heavy, and without frame lines it is difficult to frame correctly the scene. What I discovered is that activating the 1.8 digital zoom one can use the upper and lower horizontal line of the rectangle as the upper and lower frame lines of the Cinemascope crop, with a very good approximation. I have copied and pasted in PowerPoint the picture and run some calculations. What do you think? Note: I have not yet tried on the field. H1 = length / 1.5 (3:2) / 2 = 9.5 H3 = length / 2.66 / 2 = 5.35 With Digital Crop 9.5 / 1.8 = 5.3 which is close to H3, the distance of the upper frame line of the Cinemascope crop from the center of the frame. Am I making any sense? Cheers. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
