JohannesQ Posted March 17, 2024 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got a Q3 recently and love everything about it. However, a question has arisen. I would like to have the Leica Looks as JPG and at the same time the DNGs without Leica Looks. However, when I set up a Leica Look and transfer both DNG and JPG to my MacBook and view them on Apple Preview, the DNG also has the Leica Look applied. How can I avoid this? Weirdly, after importing the DNG to Lightroom the Leica Look seems to disappear. Anyone understanding what’s going on here? Would love your help to get a clean DNG in Apple Preview. There is a small embedded JPG within the DNG as well as the RAW image. When you load the DNG the Apple filesystem displays the embedded JPG. However, when you load the DNG into Lightroom, Lightroom creates its own preview based purely on the RAW image within the DNG and so you no longer see the embedded JPG. ksrhee Posted March 18, 2024 Share #3 Posted March 18, 2024 (edited) Corius is absolutely correct. Also, sometimes people do not realize that the images you see on the camera are also JPEG images, not DNG. Just select one of the B&W options in the JPEG setting, and your viewfinder and back monitor will turn into B&W. Of course, it does not impact DNG files.
