S 006 internal clock battery?

I recently picked up a S 006 should the internal clock battery keep the date and time if the main battery is removed for a period of time i.e to charge? When I only had the one battery the date and time required resetting after the recharge.

 Having found another older camera battery the date and time will remain if there is a quick swop over. I have tried running down each of batteries via the camera as per the instructions to recondition them although with the same outcome. I did notice having deliberately left the camera on overnight the screen was as expected blank, replacing the battery with a fully charged one the date and time were still correct. Do the batteries retain some power to maintain the clock when there is insufficient to power the camera?

There will be one of the new batteries arriving tomorrow allowing another test.

Is this normal or is there a possibility of the internal battery coming back to life with the higher powered new battery?

Any other tips other than an expensive internal battery replacement?

P.S. Other than the minor annoyance the camera is great

The camera definitely has an internal battery, I've never needed to reset the clock, other than occasional fine-tuning to correct for drift and DST.

The internal clock might use a rechargeable button cell, in which case it could have run-down if your camera sat for a long time. If that's the case, it will slowly re-charge as you use it.

You could ask Leica, they'll have a definitive answer.
