Yeh.  Thing is that the post-processing (AI-based) software seems to be progressing faster than the hardware, if you are not the sort of person that just likes to apply an instagram filter to a JPEG from an iPhone.

I had the SL2 and the SL2-S, both together for a short time.  I think that they make a great pair and, in the end I kept the SL2-S as I'm primarily a low light shooter.  The area that the SL2 had some more magic than the Sl2-S was high contrast black and white images with the APO Summicron-SL lenses.  There was just something about those images that stood out as compared with the SL2-S which, in my opinion, has better colors (at least when I had them close to the time the SL2-S was first released - don't know if more current SL2 firmware changed this).  I should be getting my SL3 early next week and I'm hoping I can get 90% of the low light performance of the SL2-S with the high contrast black and white imagery of the SL2 while still retaining the color science of the SL2-S for general shooting.

But anyone who grabs a preowned SL2 to shoot alongside their SL2-S will have an amazing two body kit for close to the price of the SL3.

That’s interesting.  The reason I have bought a SL2-S is that when I was looking at Flickr Leica SL galleries, I noticed that the majority of shots I clicked on (based on liking the colours) turned out to be 2-S images. Obviously we don’t know what post processing was done but my preference for the S images became hard to ignore .

So I have bought one to adapt my M Glass.  Since my only other digital Leica is a 10-D I think the screen will help me get more out of my M lenses in certain circumstances where exact framing or image review becomes handy.  The camera arrives next week and I’m very curious to check the sensor and colour rendition for myself

Today I visited my dealer. Had the SL2 in hand, and afterwards the SL3. The only significant difference to me was the ability to tilt the screen. All other changes were subtile, despite having one more dial on top. The 3 looks like a great cam.

Walked out with the 2 though, as I expected.

The firmware update of the SL2s aligned the colors to the SL2, and the SL3 has the same colors.

The biggest difference is going to come from lens coatings.

I will get a second SL3 as soon as possible and then sell one SL2S. Will sell another SL2S Reporter once multi-shot available on SL3. Might sell second Reporter eventually once SL3 honeymoon over.

BTW, sources suggest multi-shot will come through a FW update just like it did in the SL2/SL2S. IBIS and shutters are different so it will take time to release this feature on SL3 I hear.
