ho_co Posted August 23, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) For those who don’t know, programmers sometimes sneak “Easter eggs” into their work. These are special, often humorous, features of a product which can be called up by a specific and unlikely set of keystrokes. In conversation with an acquaintance who works for a company that helped write the code for the M8 firmware (and no, I won’t name the company), I found out that the M8 firmware contains such an Easter egg. After the user presses certain buttons in a specific sequence, the LCD screen goes dark for a couple seconds, and then three nude women appear, in color, entering from the right, doing a ‘hootchy-koo’ dance, and then exiting left. It’s all tasteful, of course, in keeping with the nature of the product, nothing of prurient interest. Obviously, the keystroke combination that elicits the appearance of the Easter egg can’t be revealed till after the first M8s ship in October, because Leica would likely delay delivery until the Easter Egg could be removed. And if you believe any of that, you’re ripe for half the rumors on this site! Respectfully, --HC

Bob Ross Posted August 23, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2006 Hmmmm.......are you sure that your source handled the camera long enough? I hear that the ladies entered stage left, took up poses spelling M8 and the left stage right. Perhaps there will be a la carte options available....
