Maybe this helps you? 

It's called Aperture priority and Auto ISO. 

And you can control the "exposure compensation" by mopping it up or down. 

But if you are thinking of the time, then it's better to set the time as "you" like it. 

You are the only person to know what time/speed you need or want. 

Should the image be taking with a slow shutter or fast? 

This is something that you can practice and it is fun. Because sometime you get results that you did not 

anticipate. 

Have fun experimenting.

For me personally, normally I want a sharp image where I let the lens dull it down if wanted for an image, so I use 1/500 on 28, 35 and 50 and 1/1000 on 90mm. I assume for me that with a 60MP sensor any small movement could ruin what I want sharp.

Perhaps this is simplistic but that is how I work in M mode and sometimes A mode with a high shutter speed in Auto ISO and a high ISO so that the camera will not revert to hitting a low ISO setting and then taking my SS too low for my liking.
