Any Korea based members here?

My friend will travel to Seoul, Korea soon and he plans to buy a 28 Elmarit V3 like mine pictured here.

Can anyone recommend a reputable camera shop in Seoul?

TIA

I’m a Korean living in Seoul. The most reputable store is called Bandocamera (https://m.bandocamera.co.kr).

Their collection of Leica gear is amazing which includes lots of limited editions and collector items. They have two stores, one in Chungmuro and one in Gangnam.

Go to the Chungmuro branch as that is dedicated primarily to Leica whereas the Gangnam branch is a mix of Leica but mostly Hasselblads.

One more tip is, Chungmuro, where Bando Camera is located is the camera cluster of Seoul. You can walk around and walk into 50 odd camera stores and may come across some really good deals!

Do let me know if you need any further assistance!

I mostly agree with this list except for Kasan Camera (kasancamera.co.kr). The owners/workers here didn't want to speak English and only let us see gear when speaking in Korean. They do have a large collection but overstate the condition. I looked at several items and found issues with most of them (separation, fungus, sticky film counter, sticky aperture) - not super serious issues but certainly not 95%/A+ quality that they graded. The owners/workers weren't happy when we brought up those flaws and gave us an attitude.

  • scamera.co.kr is very friendly. Their equipment collection isn't as big but conditions are accurate. Pricing was on the more fair end.
  • kookmincamera.co.kr doesn't come off as the most friendly but he helps you get what you need.
  • sazinzibb.com is probably the most foreigner friendly. They have multiple workers that speak English but their gear collection isn't the best. The condition of the gear here is much pricer than other shops (and even eBay). Pro is that you get to check out the gear before purchasing.
  • leica-storebando.co.kr has the best selection and customer service out of this list. However, the pricing is also the highest

A good addition to this list is j-camera.com. He is located in the same underground shopping mall as Kasan Camera. The condition of the gear here is okay but some might need servicing/repairs. The gear I looked at had accurate grading and was priced lower to account for the service needed.

interesting, they do speak some english with me, got quite a few lenses from them.

Their lenses were in better condition than their bodies. I stopped by them since they had a Big Logo M6 but was disappointed with the condition. They did have a good condition Leica lens that I was interested in but they were giving an attitude so I decided to just leave.
