Well the M8 I rented is gone. I sent to back and Rich Pinto will have to tomorrow. So what do I think?

I really liked it. My lovely black Paint M6ttl has been idle as have the lenses for months and months. It was nice to finally use the lenses again. I was nice to use and carry an M again.

All my lenses focused well at all distances. I loved the 75 'lux on the M8. Kinda wish I had an IR filter for it as in many cases I just have really funky color that is hard to correct for. My 35 asph 'lux gave me no f ocus problems at all.

A day before I sent it back my LTM-M8 arrived for my CV28/1.9 so I had a little time with a fully coded and filtered lens. The Milich modified 50mm mount never arrived, or hasn't yet so I never tried my 50 on the camera at all.

You all know how nice the files are. So all I can say is WOW and I agree. In one word I'd say there is a clarity to them that is missing in other cameras. My usual camera is a D2HS. I bought a D200 3 months ago just for shooting a cookbook. I also had a K10D and some Limited lenses for 7 months and it was also a fine camera. The clarity? Not there in any of the mentioned cameras. This isn't to say the other cameras aren't very very good. I really like the look of the D2HS file. Great hi ISO camera. The Limited lenses are very very nice. I really never liked the K10d that much though, not for its quality but for how it was laid out. I don't know, I never felt really together with it.

So I've got some files to work with now from the M8. Will I get an M8. Yeah at some point. I have to pay for a D3 this week or next. then I need to make M8 money with that and sell off the other Nikon bodies.

Thanks for the tips and comments. This forum had me prepared for whatever the M8 had thrown at me. It threw nothing. But hey it was only a week right ;-)

I'll post images as I work them.

Neil
