The 14043 hood cap was not made for it and will fall off too easily. The hood with cap is the later 12526 for 35/2 asph v1. Not to say that the 14043 hood cap will never fall off though. Its safer place is in the box. All makes sense now. Â My hood is the # 12524 which had no cap when I bought the lens in 1997 (second hand). Â I just assumed the seller had lost it (since the hood has the ridges for a cap) and years later bought one second hand I thought was a replacement (and then lost it). Â That cap probably was the one for the 35mm ASPH hood (12526) and the replacement I recently bought (from the auction site, in the nice silver box) is the exact replacement of my lost cap, of which neither were made for my hood. Â Oh well. Glad that the Match Technical rubber cap works very well.
