SL2 tethering issues need help ASAP

Hello there,

I'm not sure if anyone out there can provide some assistance regarding getting the SL2 to teether once again. About a year ago, I had issues connecting, but it magically went away. However, it's been a month since my last headshot session, and now my business is starting up again. I have a session tomorrow, and I have been trying to get the camera to connect for the last 35 minutes. I have removed the battery and updated the latest Capture One Pro software, but still nothing. I want to pull a little hair out only because of my expectations of having such an expensive camera and not being able to do this simple task. I'm probably to blame, but suggestions will be gladly welcomed.

Not sure it will help you. I found I needed a certain order in the sequence to make it work:

1. Connecting the USB-C cable to the Mac

2. Opening Capture One

3. Connecting the USB-C cable to the SL2 (switched off)

4. Switching on the SL2

Take out the SD cards from the camera before you start tethering. Or at least one card out. That should fix the problem.

The SD card is the problem on the Mac.

The connection to the SD card times-out not letting the software connect to the camera.

the solution is to remove the SD cards and connect, you will find it all works fine now.

If you have a just formatted SD card the computer doesn't try to make a long read of the card and connects in C1P tethers ok.

Some people like to get a backup on the card. The solution is to have a formatted card in the camera. If you disconnect for some reason, battery replacement or take a break,  you will have to replace the card to reconnect.

have you made sure that you've got Leica enabled in the Capture Settings?

I'll also emphasise the startup process.. always plug in the cable prior to turning the camera on, and removing the card.

Have you tried another cable? I'd highly recommend not using Tethertools, but try something like Area51, this one is great
