blackdot Posted January 10, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted January 10, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I've yet to use a 50mm Summilux, but I own a v2 35 lux, and I'm looking for something a little more sober when shot wide open (but not to the extreme modern rendition of an ASPH lens). I'm not concerned with the difference in focal length, as I use both 35 and 50 a lot lately, but more with low light capability without totally crazy flares and extreme soft focus effects like the 35. Is the 50mm, assuming good optical condition, going to deliver this? I only shoot film, so shooting at 1.4 is a requirement. Thanks Edited January 10, 2024 by blackdot
Advertisement Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Hi blackdot, Take a look here 50mm Lux v2 Wide Open. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
evikne Posted January 10, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted January 10, 2024 It sounds like a 50mm Summilux pre-ASPH v2 or v3 is exactly what you're looking for. It's fully usable wide open, without the strong soft focus effects of the 35mm. And together they make a great match. In this thread you can get more inspiration from this lens: Â

Looks like this is the way to go. I found a couple of nice mid-eighties samples in nice shape today. Now to gather funds...

No problem at all. I live in Tokyo, and we've got an amazing selection of expensive stuff to buy in person here. Aaaaand... I just got home a little while ago with a 1984 black v2 lux in exceptionally good condition. Pretty happy. 2
