robsteve Posted January 21, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted January 21, 2008 hmm...weird then--my 28-70 ROM lens doesn't appear to show up in my EXIF data. Any ideas as to why it would not show up in PhotoShop or iView Media? The zooms don't show focal lengh in the exif. The lens type is in the DNG somewhere because it shows up on the info display of the DMR. Just another example of how Leica seems to write the exif a bit differently than everybody else or the RAW programs just don't bother to decode the maker's notes or where ever Leica stores the lens information. troyfreund Posted January 22, 2008 Share #23 Posted January 22, 2008 Does a ROM or ROMmed lens show up in the Camera-info display? I don't recall ever seeing that. I admit, I did have a few lenses ROMmed, and now I'm disappointed that I'm not seeing any additional EXIF info. The better corrected vignette-action is cool, but I was really hoping I'd seeing lens info logged in with my digi-files. T
robsteve Posted January 23, 2008 Author Share #24 Posted January 23, 2008 If your lenses are not a zoom, the info will show up in the file and be readable by the normal programs. For the zooms, the lens name will show up in the info section of the DMR screen. This is when you hit the info button on the back of the DMR and get the histogram, not an info screen of a program like Photoshop or Lightroom. No focal length shows up in the exif of the file when using a zoom. Sometimes when switching lenses on the DMR, the rom is not read until you turn the camera on and back on. I am not sure of the sequence that causes the problem, but occassionaly the DMR will write no lens info or the previous lens info into the exif. robsteve Posted January 23, 2008 Author Share #25 Posted January 23, 2008 Troy: Here is a gallery shot mostly with the DMR. The gallery program shows the lens and camera info. This was the 400mm I got rommed. The 400mm shows up in the exif. This was shot with the 21-35mm and processed through Flexcolor. Notice there is not any focal lenght shown. Camera maker shows as Hasselblad too:)
