Hey there,

recently my newly inherited Summilux-R 50mm started making problems. It startet with not being able to focus to infinity anymore. As I was turning left and right to find a cause, it started changing the aperture, without me turning the aperture ring.

Now, a few days later without much manipulating, it came apart when turning it again. Any ideas on how to put it back togehter? I can't seem to align the recesses correctly, it always comes back apart.

Thanks so much in advance!

Here in this german post Thorsten Wagner describes how he has repaired a 28mm Elmarit-R with focus problems. With this description I have fixed my 28mm and a Summilux-R 50mm with lose focus. It is quite easy, but you need a 'lens tool' and a rubber tool or ring to unscrew the front ring.

Maybe you can use Google translator.

There are possibly several errors you can make. I just had to send a 3.4/180 to DAG Camera service as the lens had been opened by a previous owner and reasembled incorrectly. Send the lens to DAG or some other repair service. This is a steller lens, but given its age, it would surely benefit from cleaning of the focusing mechanism etc. etc.

lukespics, my Summilux-R 50 f/1.4 just developed an identical problem. Something internal apparently loosened and slipped out of alignment, such the the focusing ring now closes and opens the aperture. As of yet, I have not experienced any disassembly as you have. May I ask if you have solved your problem or found the right repair shop that solved it?
