When i ordered my M8 : two months When i ordered my elmarit 28 ASPH : 7 months and finally: I ordered a new Summicron ASPH SILVER 35mm in June... but is it normal? I don't think so, i'm quite disappointed with this. The first time (M8) they told me that it was new, and matter of fact... I came back to the official Leica Dealer some weeks later and ordered a 28elmarit ASPH (and all of us know about it..), finally after 7 months my first 28asph elmarit arrived, and just one week later a second one arrived from another leica dealer and so i bought it (Jaap you know about'it), to justify these 7 months they told me everything about production costs, delivery delay, and the usual "this lens is new, you have to wait". But now i ordered the 35 'cron asph silver, and even if it's rare because of its colour, i can really say that this hurt me! This is not of course a "new" lens, but still I have to wait, is it correct? Is maybe Leica playin' a game? I don't think we need a WHOLE NEW SET OF FANTASTIC LENSES when we can't even buy a new one! I love the Nocti, but i really can't imagine how long does it take to own one!(so i don't dare) They want to contrast the CV and Zeiss market with these Summarits, and even the Used Market, but maybe it would be better to preserve what made Leica a "classic dream-machine" in photography: i.e. FAST-EXPENSIVE-SMALL & HIGH QUALITY OBJECTS is it too much??? Tomorrow i'm gonna buy a brand-new 3years old summicron 35 asph silver and avoid my order... hope someone could understand me, and sorry for those who don't... regards Mauri MAURIZIO BEUCCI.com - Official web site Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had a (paid) order for the 35lux and my dealer gave me the 35cron silver for use meanwhile (for free). Funny thing, while I used the cron I fell in love and kept it, cancelled the lux-order and fixed myself the macro adapter for the saved money. Also the short lenses (21, 24) seem to be unavailable and I'm currently waiting. Was looking at Zeiss and Voigtländer but stopped because they`re usually not RF coupled, not coded, etc. But seriously, once the glass is there you`re really going to enjoy it! Despite the shortage of new lenses you are referring to I must admit that since I bought my M8 (11 months ago) I also bought 10 lenses (adding to the 2 I already had). From those 10 lenses, 4 were new. Three new lenses (nocti, mate, wate) were in stock at several dealers in the country, one new lens (cron75) came from Leica (30% discount) after one month. The other 6 lenses I bought second hand, sometimes selling off older equipment. And I discovered eBay (finally). The 2 lenses you mention (elm28asph + lux35asph chr) are indeed very hard to get though. For me however, to much gear is available today, easy accessible.
