JPizzzle Posted January 4, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted January 4, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys, I feel like this may be a dumb question, but would appreciate opinions on the impact of registering on future resale. I've had my new m11p and 35apo for a couple of months and have yet to register. I've seen ads online for people offering cameras and bodies as "un-registered" and was wondering if that adds any value to the equipment when reselling or if I'm missing something. I don't anticipate selling the lens, but will likely upgrade the body in the future if the next M has any features that are worthwhile for me. Since I bought it from an AD, I also get an extra year of warranty when registering plus the LSI membership, which is nice. Â Having said that, is there any real benefit to not registering a camera? Budfox Posted January 4, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted January 4, 2024 (edited) When you sell you can remove the camera from Leica registration so the new owner can register in their name - you will be asked to do this if you sell or trade back with Leica. If they are lucky, the new owner can sometimes be offered the extra warranty and free LFI editions when they register (happened to me on a used M11). Based on the above, there is no need to not register. I have not noticed ads stating unregistered over many years of reviewing, and in my view it adds no value for the camera to be unregistered. What is important is that the seller is the current registered owner so they can unregister - and reassures that the camera is not stolen. I think you have to register within 3 months to get the extras. Edited January 4, 2024 by Budfox
