xopexath Posted January 4, 2024 Share #1  Posted January 4, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 1938 "four-ring" Xenon lens which was professionally cleaned from haze in 2015. I have not been using it for the last few years, it was stored with a UV filter attached and around 20 C / 55% relative humidity. Now I have realized that haze has appeared on the front element again. I have attempted to remove the haze by gently touching the front element with a single use Zeiss lens wipe and a bit of extra Isopropyl alcohol, but that has not had much of an effect. Given that the Xenon's front element is known to scratch easily, and this one is in pretty good condition apart from the newly formed haze, I'd like to be cautious. Does anybody have a recommendation on how to clean haze from a Xenon front element, at home? I'm not amused by the prospect of sending the lens for professional cleaning every couple of years. Thanks!

jc_braconi Posted January 4, 2024 Share #2  Posted January 4, 2024 Not any recommendation for cleaning, but one to prevent it : let always your diaphragm full open when you store your lens, this can prevent any born of haze or fungus.
