Dabei gilt, je kleiner die Blende, desto schärfer das Bild. Zumindest gilt das bis zu einem gewissen Punkt - Stichwort Beugungsunschärfe. Schließt man die Blende zu weit, wird das Ergebnis wieder unschärfer. Bei den meisten Objektiven erzielt man die maximale Schärfe bei einer Blende von 8 oder 11.
