Lenses for my M8

There is more to life than just field of view!

A kit of 15, 21, 28,50 on the M8 certainly covers the lions share of needs. But there are other considerations which may influence your choices such as bokeh and other drawing issues. For instance the 75 Lux has most wonderful bokeh and at f1.4 can isolate the subject from the background better than most. I find it the best of the best for portraiture. Although I haven't tried it myself there are a lot of folks out there who contend the older 35 V4 non asph also has superb bokeh and proves to be a great all around lens. Some folks prefer the tack sharp characteristics of the 24 elmarit while others go for the creamier look of the 21 Elmarit.

So my advice is to try as many lenses as you can get your hands on, decide what your artistic preferences will be and then make the decision as to what is best for you

Hope this helps

Any suggestion on which shop that might have the 50mm Summilux asph (black, 6-bit coded) in stock? I think I am going to go for it...

TIA.

24/35/75 is an excellent set, but keep in mind that it leaves you without a nice classic portrait focal length. At the moment I am finding that I lean towards 21/28/50/90, with both 50 and 90 being capable of portraits on the M8. The 50 Summilux ASPH is such an awesome lens is so many ways that it has become my go-to lens, even though it is too long for many things. the 35 Summilux ASPH is also great, but keep in mind that one day Leica will probably release a FF M9, and then the 28/50/90 combo is classic.
