Joop van Heijgen Posted November 22, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 22, 2007 what is the bokeh king for R lenses? I am looking for 50mm summilux. But what is the the best? Thanks Macro-Elmarit R 2,8/60 and Summicron-R 2,0/50.
Stuart Richardson Posted November 22, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 22, 2007 what is the bokeh king for R lenses? I am looking for 50mm summilux. But what is the the best? Thanks The 50/1.4 Summilux E60 is pretty great. This is not a great picture, but it shows the great bokeh... Do you mean the best at 50mm, or in other focal lengths as well? FrankA Posted November 22, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted November 22, 2007 Great examples. I am interested in the 50 as well as overall. What does E60 mean? I don't think I will be getting any current versions of lenses. Thanks.
Stuart Richardson Posted November 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 22, 2007 Great examples. I am interested in the 50 as well as overall. What does E60 mean? I don't think I will be getting any current versions of lenses. Thanks. E60 means the 60mm filter thread. That is the latest version of the lens. It is a different optical version than any of the previous summiluxes, and its supposedly the best 50mm after the 50/1.4 ASPH. In many ways, it has a nicer character than the 50/1.4 ASPH. In any case, the R lens line is excellent overall for bokeh, so I would not worry about it too much. My favorites are the 100mm APO, 180/2.8 APO and the 28-90mm f/2.8 zoom, which is great. The 35/1.4 is also very good. 100mm APO: 28-90 zoom 180/2.8 APO
telyt Posted November 22, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 22, 2007 The E55 50mm Summilux-R is excellent, as is the 60mm Macro, pre-APO 90mm Summicron-R and the 135mm Elmarit-R. The 100mm APO and 280mm f/4 APO have good bokeh but IMHO not as pleasing as the 50, 60, 90 and 135 I've listed.
