CornerFix 0.9.1.6 is now available for download, in versions for both Windows and the Mac. CornerFix corrects for the "cyan corners" problem on Leica M8 digital cameras when used with IR filters.

This version has a number of enhancements over previous ones:

1. The ability to decode the M8's MakerNotes, and optionally add the information in these to the DNG file's EXIF data. This is based on Carl Bretteville's excellent work. Carl's work is described in a separate thread.

2. Enhanced user interface for the Mac - its now more "Mac like"

3. Various bug fixes for both the Windows and Mac versions.

The decoded MakerNotes appear in the CornerFix log window. On the Windows version, that is the area in the bottom of the CornerFix screen. On the Mac version, the log window is a separate screen, that you bring up either via the menu, or by <Apple L>.

Options for either updating or not updating the EXIF data in the file may be found in the preferences section. More information on how to do this is in the Quick Start guide.

The download is at the usual place:

SourceForge.net: CornerFix

Important notes:

1. "16-bit" files are NOT compatible with all raw converters. Specifically, Phase One's Capture One will not read them, other than the V4 Beta - both Apple and PC. For compatibility with C1 versions earlier than 4, you need to enable "Level Compression".

2. Please read the QuickStart document for important information on installation and compression options.

All previous lens profile files (.CPFs), be they those generated on Windows or Mac systems, will work fine with the new version.

Enjoy!

Thank you Sandy. I downloaded it about an hour ago to try the EFIX updater and reported my findings in Carl's thread.

Mark,

Yes - you're exactly right the limitations of the estimated aperture - the blue dot sensor seems to have a FOV of somewhere between 28 and 50mm, so the estimate isn't at its best for a 75mm lenses. But even for shorter lenses, it's still sometimes substantially out, especially when the center of the image, where the TTL sensor measures, is bright, and the edges of the image dark.

Hello Sandy,

Is it possible to use CornerFix to update only the Metadata of a picture taken with the M8, ie without correcting the file regenerated ?

Thanks beforehand for your feedback.

Best regards.

Philippe

Yes, it's decribed in the Quick Start doc. It does regenerate the JPEG thumbnail, but the RAW data is not changed.
