andybarton Posted December 21, 2023 Share #4 Posted December 21, 2023 As with any landscape photography, you need to make sure that the exposure of the land areas and the sky areas are balanced. Don’t blow out the sky, and bring up the “shadows” of the darker, land areas.
seabassius Posted December 22, 2023 Share #5 Posted December 22, 2023 I like the sun off to the side so there are nice shadows to create some depth to the image. Get up early and get the blue hour right before for some “cooler” toned shots, although this time of year it’s not too bad with sunrise. Sunsets are nice too. Middle of the day the sun can be kind of harsh, but with it lower in the sky your window will be longer. If you are in the middle of the day (works in morning too), switch to raw plus jpeg and shoot black and white and focus on lighting, shadows, shapes, textures, leading lines, interesting foreground elements. This way you have a black and white that distills the image down to few elements and a color raw one later to massage how you like.

Wear a strap, watch your step? What kind of recommendation are you looking for? I‘d try and shoot multiple exposures at dawn/sunset, blue hour, golden hour handheld, ISO 100 and appropriate F-stop or focus stack, depending on scenery.
