Popular Post colonel Posted December 12, 2023 Popular Post Share #1 Posted December 12, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Some updates on usage: 1. Switch on from cold could be a tad faster. I tend to keep it on now with 10s screen off and 1min camera off. Battery does drain faster when using like this (with most cameras, I usually just switch off between pictures). Still haven't seen need for more then one battery. Note I am only charging to 80% to preserve battery life (learnt that from my ID4 manual 😁 ) 2. Furniture is staying stiff and smooth, so that is good 3. Processing time on my 32gb, 13 gen i5, ssd PC doesn't seem to have noticeably changed since Q2. I use USB-C high speed card reader to transfer to PC. I find lightroom is fastest when catalogue and photos are local (doh!). Backup to NAS over 1gb etn is fine 4. I set stabilisation to be on all the time. The Auto setting I have found, switches it on at too slow speeds 5. Wait for focus to complete shutter, need to monitor this for face detect, as it might have picked a moving body/face. You can be in a situation when you press the shutter and it doesn't take if you don't pay attention. More technique then camera, and probably as I am relying much more on body/face detect with the Q3 then Q2. 6. Happy to use 6400 for first time. Previously I set top at 3200. 7. 3 free LFI magazines digital only 😒come on guys, I like the paper magazines 8. The bag I bought in celebration of a new camera is the Thinktank Retrospective 4 v2 in black. Doesn't look like a camera bag, small but space for a few other small things. No zips in main compartment - good for me as they can scratch camera. Can turn Velcro on an off. Would have preferred magnets - maybe for V3 .... 9. I don't use hood, grip or case, as I like to keep it as small as possible for subtlety. The only things I use are a rope wrist strap and a lens filter just for safety. Some samples: B&W is great. Definition looks like my old M9 Monochrom. Good light Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Bad light Am I right in thinking colours are more kodachrome now (more M8 then M240) ? Flare prevention pretty good Colour preservation at low light is good Extreme light/dark contrast doesn't overwhelm and colours are spot on (note I could have brought up the audience with shadows but like the silhouettes in B&W) No problem in speed spinning up to shoot quickly Did I say that the colours are super (well to my eye): Looking fwd to end of year holiday will family. Change of scene! Happy holidays everyone! Edited December 12, 2023 by colonel 19
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Advertisement Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Hi colonel, Take a look here Q3 one month later. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Kim Dahl Posted December 12, 2023 Share #2 Posted December 12, 2023 Hej Colonel, Thanks for the nice pictures and a little mini review. I am super happy with my Q3 and it covers (surprisingly) 85% of everything I want to do. I need a fixed bright (AF) lens, e.g. 50 mm. and a long telephoto for bird and nature photography. Then I'm covered 100%. So looking to see if it should be Nikon, Canon or Sony. I also have id4 and 80% charge is ok. But if you charge slowly and use the power soon after, it's ok to charge to 100%. But it is not good to have a battery with 100% charge standing for several days without using it. I think it's a bit the same with camera batteries..

I am also still playing around with a long zoom companion, as I rarely use it. Will probably settle on a Sony RX100 VII. I am going small and lightweight with my cameras .... For daylight I normally set auto iso base at 1/250. I might change to 1/125 or auto at night. Perhaps I didnt notice on Q2 as much due to reduced resolution
